TEA is Brewing in the Original Washington

Super TEA Party Rally on October 2, 2010 on the waterfront in Washington's Harbor District.
On Thursday night, Aug. 5, a group of about 20-25 people got together with Mr. Buzz Cayton of the Beaufort County Patriots in Washington, North Carolina to discuss the planning of a super TEA Party rally along with waterfront in Little Washington on Sept. 25th. The Beaufort Patriots is the TEA Party movement recently formed in that county, by members of the Conservative Men's group. Buzz is President of that group. He is a brilliant man and a wonderful advocate for the change we need from the corruption and poor leadership we've seen in our state.
The plan is for the rally to be huge (3-5 thousand people) so that the event will attract exciting, heavy-hitter speakers and will receive lots of media attention, as well as to start a swell in our grass roots movement to make a difference in November and then to eventually make a difference in 2012. So far, TEA Party groups from Beaufort County, Pitt County, Wilson County, Zebulon, Rocky Mount, the Crystal Coast, Greene County, and other areas have committed.
The TEA Party groups are planning a fun event, with musical entertainment, food vendors, sales vendors, booths for candidates to come out for a meet and greet, and to pass out literature, local radio stations, and media coverage. Church groups are encouraged to join the event with bake sales. .
At this point, Pat McCrory looks like he will commit and others have shown interest. We would love to have Bill Randall
come speak and we would definitely love to be dazzled by Mr. Jerry Grimes. We would also love to hear from someone who has served in the military because after all, the TEA Party is a true patriotic movement. We have men and women who are committed to fighting for our country overseas.... The very least we can do is fight for our country right here at home.
We are going to try to tie the rally into a "turn-out-the vote" type thing -- an "informed" and "well-intentioned" electorate's version of community organizing. We recognize that the right to vote is an individual's right that an individual must wish to exercise, and is NOT a political party's right. We also recognize that responsible voting comes from having a stake in our government and in the decisions that are made in Raleigh and in Washington, such as being a business owner, being a property owner, working for a living, going for an education, paying taxes, having pensions, retirement accounts, and estates. We are going to ask each person at the rally to pledge to go home and make calls and get at least 5 people to come out and vote for conservative, Constitutional candidates. In turn, as those 5 people to contact 5 people, etc etc.
Another theme of the rally will be to emphasize the significance of this year's election in Raleigh and re-districting (the party that wins will have the chance to draw up new district lines which of course will be done in order to favor and to take advantage of Democratic voting blocks (demographics). There will be no end to the corruption and cronyism that has controlled this state for at least 10 years. And it will also hurt grassroots efforts to make the needed change in Washington DC. We need to emphasize the importance of electing a Republican legislature to combat what would surely be terrible consequences should a Democratic legislature be in charge of the re-districting.
Furthermore, the rally is an opportunity to provide the TEA Party with information to use in 2012 to mass the effort to make the most meaningful change of all - oust Barack Obama. We can collect email addresses, pass out our cards, sign people up for the TEA Party, get them up for Constitutional courses,... just get them involved. We need to educate our electorate.
Buzz Cayton of the Beaufort County Patriots is the coordinator of the event. If anyone is interested in contacting Buzz with suggestions for entertainment, speakers, vendors, T-shirt sales or other items, vendors for arts and crafts, etc, his email address is: wcayton@earthlink.net. The website is www.beaufortpatriot.com and will have updated details for the event.
There isn't much time until October 2nd so we need to hit the ground running and help make this event one that the news will want and need to cover and to air. We need everyone to help promote this event.
Publisher's Note: Here below is a post publication message from Diane Rufino on this particular Tea party in Washington, NC on October 2, 2010.
As you can read below, Buzz received a call earlier today from the Parks and Recreation Department informing him that they had erred. September 25 had already been reserved. The new date for the Super TEA Party will be Saturday, October 2.
We have the park all day, and so far it looks like tents, venders and entertainment can start setting up as early as 10:00, and speakers will start taking the stage at about 2:00. A bunch of us will start gathering at least by 10:00. Buzz is going to check to see how to handle venders and thinks it might be a great idea to have churches organize food and bake sales.
Sorry to add to any confusion.
So please note that the rally will be Saturday, Oct. 2, with the day being open and speakers planning to hit the stage at about 2:00.
